The project “IAGIP”, “Artificial Intelligence applied to Pest Management” has received this Wednesday, 13 December, Positive resolution to the application for assistance that presented to the call of MINECO, RETOS COLABORACIÓN 2016, co-financed by the European Union.
RETOS COLABORACIÓN is a call framed in the State Program of Research, Development and Innovation Oriented to the Challenges of the Society, within the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2013-2016.
The project is being developed by AGC and NOVADRONE, technological companies in the field of drones and artificial vision and will have the participation of research organizations US (University of Seville), IAT (Andalusian Institute of Technology) and UPO (Pablo de Olavide University).
The purpose of the project is to develop predictive models that allow to know the evolution of the pest Bactrocera Oleae (olive fly) with up to 4 weeks in advance, in order to be able to act avoiding its explosion while minimizing the use of pesticides. The tool will be able to help optimize management and decision making in the production of olive oil and improve the crop sustainability.
